With a focus on craftsmanship and conscious design\, each piece is created in her Manchester-based studio using deadstock or locally sourced yarns. Her practise is a celebration of colour\, process\, and thoughtful making. \n \nIn the workshop we will cover: threading up the machine\, casting on\, knitting a row\, adding in different colours\, increasing + decreasing and casting off. We will then use all the skills you have just learnt to knit your own necktie in a colour of your choosing. \n \nYou’ll leave with a portfolio of samples showcasing the skills you have learnt\, a finished necktie ready to wear and the foundations of machine knitting to build on further. \n \nNo need to bring anything with you – all equipment and materials will be provided. DESCRIPTION:A friendly workshop making objects using surplus wool collected from farms in the North West of England. Spinning\, felting and bookbinding!\n\n\nWavy Wool Club is back on 24th September at Altogether Otherwise. \n \nWavy Wool Club is an open\, free-to-join space that connects farmers and creatives through wool. We gather every other Wednesday at Altogether Otherwise to spin\, felt\, card\, and work with fleece that would otherwise go to waste. It’s a place to relax\, learn new skills\, and share stories about farming\, craft\, and the environment. \n \nFor this special series\, we’ll follow the journey of wool from fleece to fabric. A sheep farmer will bring a raw fleece directly from their flock\, and together we’ll work through each stage of its transformation. Over several sessions\, we’ll learn to skirt\, wash\, card\, and spin the fibres\, with the chance to experiment along the way. By the end\, we’ll have created our own small pieces of handmade woollen fabric\, part craft\, part conversation – a celebration of this undervalued\, magical material. \n \nNo experience needed\, just curiosity. Now\, a missing button or worn-out sock often means the end of a garment. \nMending Club brings those lost skills back. It’s a friendly\, free space to slow down\, learn or practice mending\, and share stories stitched into our clothes. Bring along the jeans you’ve worn to death\, your moth-eaten jumper\, or socks with holes – together we’ll give them new life. \nNo experience needed – whether you’re a seasoned stitcher or can’t thread a needle\, you’re welcome. Every other Tuesday at Altogether Otherwise\, we gather to darn\, patch\, stitch\, and mend. Tools and materials are provided\, and inspiration is always on hand. \nExpect a casual social environment where we can share what we’re currently working on\, ask for advice and chat. We’re all about sharing knowledge and skills\, so if you’re not sure how to go about a particular mend\, feel free to ask! DESCRIPTION:Join us for the Manchester launch of two poetry publications from Monitor Books: Jazmine Linklater’s  and Fatema Abdoolcarim.\n\n\nJoin us for the Manchester launch of two poetry publications from Monitor Books: Jazmine Linklater’s Snagged on red thread and Fatema Abdoolcarim’s Tremble. Jazmine and Fatema will read and be joined by artist Rowland Hill. \n \nRegister for free tickets. \n \nJazmine Linklater is a poet and writer based in Manchester where she is a regional editor for the online art writing platform Corridor8. She has published four poetry chapbooks\, most recently Figure a Motion (Guillemot Press\, 2020). From October 2025 she is undertaking practice-based research in art writing and ekphrastic encounters at Sheffield University. \n \nFatema Abdoolcarim is an Indian-Pakistani Hong Konger who makes films and writes. Her films have been shown internationally\, including at Montreal Museum of Fine Arts\, Locarno Film Festival\, and Osaka Asian Film Festival. Fatema’s essays and poetry can be read in publications by Prototype (London)\, The Munch Museum (Oslo)\, The Brooklyn Rail\, and in the anthology of feminist writing\, Gestures: A body of work (Manchester University Press\, 2025). Tremble is her debut collection of poetry. She lives in the Baltic Sea\, on the island of Bornholm. \n \nRowland Hill is an artist working across the visual and performing arts. She studied Drama and English before graduating in 2018 with a Masters from the Slade School of Fine Art. Her work has recently been presented at Raven Row (London)\, Full of Noises (Barrow)\, Dreamland (Margate)\, Castlefield Gallery (Manchester) and Pase Platform (Venice)\, as well as in publications including Motor Dance Journal\, Ambit\, Elephant and HOAX.

Now\, a missing button or worn-out sock often means the end of a garment. \nMending Club brings those lost skills back. It’s a friendly\, free space to slow down\, learn or practice mending\, and share stories stitched into our clothes. Bring along the jeans you’ve worn to death\, your moth-eaten jumper\, or socks with holes – together we’ll give them new life. \nNo experience needed – whether you’re a seasoned stitcher or can’t thread a needle\, you’re welcome. Every other Tuesday at Altogether Otherwise\, we gather to darn\, patch\, stitch\, and mend. Tools and materials are provided\, and inspiration is always on hand. \nExpect a casual social environment where we can share what we’re currently working on\, ask for advice and chat. We’re all about sharing knowledge and skills\, so if you’re not sure how to go about a particular mend\, feel free to ask! DESCRIPTION:A friendly workshop making objects using surplus wool collected from farms in the North West of England. Spinning\, felting and bookbinding!\n\n\nWavy Wool Club is back on 24th September at Altogether Otherwise. \n \nWavy Wool Club is an open\, free-to-join space that connects farmers and creatives through wool. We gather every other Wednesday at Altogether Otherwise to spin\, felt\, card\, and work with fleece that would otherwise go to waste. It’s a place to relax\, learn new skills\, and share stories about farming\, craft\, and the environment. \n \nFor this special series\, we’ll follow the journey of wool from fleece to fabric. A sheep farmer will bring a raw fleece directly from their flock\, and together we’ll work through each stage of its transformation. Over several sessions\, we’ll learn to skirt\, wash\, card\, and spin the fibres\, with the chance to experiment along the way. By the end\, we’ll have created our own small pieces of handmade woollen fabric\, part craft\, part conversation – a celebration of this undervalued\, magical material. \n \nNo experience needed\, just curiosity. Come for one session or follow the whole process from start to finish. \n \nAltogether Otherwise is a place where things always happen—where making\, doing\, and shared endeavour are all part of the fun.
