A magical retelling of Scheherazade, blending theatre and reimagined classical music into an enchanting performance.
Classical music meets theatre, with music completely rewritten, inspired by Rimsky-Korsakov, this retelling of stories from 1,001 Nights unfolds through Scheherazadeâs eyes, blurring the lines between story and reality in an enchanting, otherworldly performance.
With Support from Rory Green to start the night off right! Bring your own drinks!

//////////////////////
Valette Ensemble are a young group of strings players creating classical music experiences that push the boundaries of what a concert can be. In Scheherazade, the players will perform newly created music inspired by the orchestral suite by Rimsky-Korsakov. This will be saturated with storytelling from actor and writer Rowan Kudekha-Lark. Expect an evening of theatre, excellent musicianship and an inversion of the perspective we usually see Scheherazadeâs story from.
The storyâs main protagonist (Scheherazade) is a character from the ultimate collection of Middle Eastern folk tales One Thousand and One Nights. She ingeniously saves herself and her people from being murdered through the power of story telling. Staving off the Sultanâs habit of executing his brides on their wedding night by telling him a story every night which ends on a cliffhanger. He then is too captivated by knowing what happens next to kill her.It was this story that inspired Russian composer Rimsky-Korsakov to write one of classical musicâs best loved orchestral suites.
Whether youâre a die hard classical fan or have no interest in it youâre sure to recognise the sweeping tunes and interweaving textures of this well known work. There is also nothing quite like listening to classical music being performed live. Players at the top of their game vibrating the air in the room in ways that calm our nervous systems and soothe our brains is what has kept this genre alive for so long! Experience the magical world of this iconic folkloric femme powerhouse from her own perspective, with a brand new musical world.

Join us for our weekly Wildlife Gardening Club.
This week, we're thrilled to welcome Orchardist and founder of Northern Lily CIC, Victoria Holden, for an inspiring deep dive into the fascinating world of fruit trees.
Did you know that fruit trees were first domesticated over 4,500 years ago? Here in the UK, weâve shared a long and rich history with them, not just for their fruit, but for the wildlife they support. Fruit trees are often teeming with life, forming complex food webs that sustain birds, bats, mice, hedgehogs, and more.
Victoria will guide us through the essentials, from planting and soil health, to feeding, summer pruning and underplanting. Youâll leave with the knowledge to create your own thriving, productive mini orchard no matter the size of your garden.

Altogether Otherwise is a place where things always happen. Where making, doing, and shared endeavour are all part of the fun. We run workshops, create things, and keep the Hobby House buzzing with activity. No end goals, no pressure, just a space to tinker, try, and enjoy the simple joy of doing.
